Ron Hackney Excellence Endowment
Established in 2012 to honor CNM faculty member, Ron Hackney, the Ron Hackney Excellence Prize Scholarship has been established through The CNM Foundation and is intended for students who have excelled in the CNM Welding Program and who seeks a future career in welding. The recipient(s) of the Ron Hackney Excellence Prize Scholarship will receive a welding machine for SMAW, GMAW and GTAW processes. Applicants must be currently enrolled in the final term of a CNM Welding Certificate or Associate program, demonstrate excellence in the Art of the Trade and Welding skill, student must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, a completion rate of 94% or higher in required courses, recipients intend to make welding their profession, and demonstrate excellence in character and leadership through employable skills. Students must write a personal statement about themselves, their need for the scholarship, why they have chosen their major, their educational goals, and how their education at CNM will help them.
Students need to request a letter of recommendation from a welding instructor acknowledging student’s work, character, leadership, and craftsmanship throughout their academic year.
